Show a print on a wall, and say it is a mockup

Drop your image into a frame scene so people can imagine the size. Label it as a mockup.

A mockup is a picture of a picture. It helps a buyer. It becomes a problem when it pretends a photo of your studio happened.

Tools

  • Placeit

Template scenes you drop your own image into.

  • Mediamodifier

Another mockup generator for frames, devices, and print.

  • Adobe Photoshop

Smart-object mockup files when you want the composite local.

  • Canva

Includes mockup templates if you are already making the post there.

How to do it

  1. 1

Use the file you would actually print

Crop to the aspect ratio of the frame. Do not upscale a tiny web image and call it a large edition.

  2. 2

    Place it in one scene

In Placeit, Mediamodifier, a Canva mockup, or a Photoshop smart-object file, replace the placeholder with your art. Check that the frame does not crop a signature you need.

  3. 3

    Look at the light

If the scene's shadow crosses the print in a way that hides the drawing, pick another template. You are not obligated to the first room.

  4. 4

    Caption it

Say it is a mockup, and say the size. If you also have a real photo of a real print, prefer that and keep the mockup as a backup.
