Write to people who asked to hear from you
A short letter about a real date, sent through a tool that includes unsubscribe.
The list is the asset and the risk. Buttondown, Mailchimp, or Brevo can send. None of them make it acceptable to write to people who did not ask.
Tools
Affiliate links are switched off. The buttons below go to official sites, not paid links. Affiliate disclosure
Buttondown
A newsletter tool with an unsubscribe, sized for a person rather than a marketing department.
Mailchimp
A larger email tool. Use it if you already keep the list there.
Brevo
Another sender with a real unsubscribe and list tools.
How to do it
- 1
Export only the opted-in list
From the form where people asked, or the tool that already stores consent. Do not scrape a workshop attendance sheet that never mentioned email.
- 2
Write the letter yourself
What is happening, when, how to register, how to say no. A model may tighten a paragraph. It does not get the spreadsheet.
- 3
Send from the email tool
Use Buttondown, Mailchimp, or Brevo so the unsubscribe is real. Send a test to yourself. Read it on a phone.
- 4
Leave people who leave
When someone unsubscribes, they are gone. Do not add them back from memory.
