Describe the picture yourself, let a model tighten the sentence, then correct every invention.
Alt text is for someone who cannot see the image. If it describes things that are not there, it fails twice: as access, and as a record of the work.

How to do it

Look, then type
Write what is in the frame: medium, subject, and one fact about the mark-making. Do not start from a generated caption.

Ask for a tighter line
Give Claude your sentences and ask for one or two alt-text lines. Tell it not to add objects, moods you did not name, or a story about the sitter.

Check against the pixels
If it mentions a hat, a logo, or a smile that is not there, delete that word. You are the witness.

Paste it into the real field
The portfolio image field, the social upload, not a note you will forget. Decorative crops can be marked empty only when they carry no information.
