Try color variants without losing the original
Recolor a vector for a poster or a shirt study, and keep the file from before the experiment.
Illustrator's Generative Recolor is for vector art. A raster painting wants a simpler tool. Either way, the first file stays.

Adobe Illustrator
Generative Recolor, powered by Firefly, recolors vector artwork from a prompt.
Adobe Firefly
Adobe's generative model family. Adobe says it is trained on licensed and public-domain material.
Recraft
A design tool that can recolor an image you upload. Compare it to the original.
Photopea
Hue and saturation when the file is a raster and you want a controlled shift.
How to do it
- 1
Save a named original
Duplicate the Illustrator file or the PNG. The experiment gets its own name.
- 2
Recolor vectors in Illustrator
Select the artwork and use Generative Recolor with a plain prompt: 'warm paper, one blue, dark ink.' Adobe describes Firefly as trained on Adobe Stock and licensed or public-domain content. That is their claim. You still look at the result.
- 3
For a raster, shift hue
In Photopea, use hue and saturation or a gradient map you can edit. If you try Recraft's recolor on an upload, remember the file leaves your machine. Do not upload client work.

Pick one and say why
Keep the variant that still reads as your drawing in grayscale. Delete the ones that changed the drawing's shapes.
