Cut a process reel from the real drawing

Record the canvas, cut a short vertical video, and do not invent a timelapse.

People follow process videos because the hand is visible. A generated timelapse of a picture that appeared all at once is a different genre, and it should not wear the same caption.

Tools

  • OBS Studio

Free screen recording of the drawing as it actually happens.

  • CapCut

A simple editor for a vertical cut and captions.

  • DaVinci Resolve

A fuller free editor when the cut needs more care.

How to do it

  1. 1

Record the file you are making

In OBS, capture the canvas, not the whole desktop full of client names. Start when you start. Stop when you stop.

  2. 2

    Cut for the decision

In CapCut or DaVinci Resolve, keep the moments where the drawing changes: the likeness, the color, the crop. Speed up empty time. Do not add a fake 'AI finish.'

  3. 3

    Caption what happened

On-screen text can name the tool you used for a levels pass or a crop. It should not claim a step you skipped.

  4. 4

    Export a short vertical file

A minute is plenty. The last frame should be the picture you are willing to sign.
