Trace to vectors, then redraw the line
Use an auto-trace as scaffolding for a logo or a clean ink drawing, not as the finished contour.
Vectorizer.AI, Inkscape's trace, and Illustrator's Image Trace all guess where edges are. They are useful when you need a path for print or vinyl. They are a mess on a soft pencil sketch.

Vectorizer.AI
Turns a clean bitmap into vectors you can preview before downloading.
Inkscape
A free vector editor with its own bitmap trace, on your machine.
Adobe Illustrator
Image Trace and the pen tools for redrawing what the trace got wrong.
How to do it
- 1
Start from a clean bitmap
Use a high-contrast ink scan, not a photo of a smudged pencil page. Crop to the mark you want.
- 2
Preview the trace
On Vectorizer.AI, look at the preview before you download. In Inkscape or Illustrator, run the trace and expand it. Zoom into corners and thin crossings.
- 3
Redraw the decisions
With the pen or pencil tool, replace wobbly paths and fused shapes. Delete anchors you would not have drawn. The trace is a guide layer. Lock it and lower its opacity.
- 4
Keep both files
Save the original bitmap and the vectors you actually edited. If Vectorizer processed the image, remember it went to their server. Do not upload a private portrait.
